Community Early Childhood Council (CECC)

The OVEC Counties Community Early Childhood Council (CECC) was formed in 2013 through a grant funded by the Governor's Office of Early Childhood. The primary goal of the council is to build innovative, collaborative partnerships that promote school readiness for children and families. Henry County is one of six counties represented on this council within the OVEC region.

Kindergarten Transition Night

The Henry County Early Childhood Center is hosting a Kindergarten Transition Night on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm! This is a great opportunity for you and your incoming kindergartener to meet the principal and staff of their elementary school, complete the enrollment process, and learn what you can do to better prepare your child for the 2018-2019 school year.

Family Literacy Night

On February 15, 2018 HCECC hosted a Family Literacy Night. 26 families from the county attended this fun night that featured the characters from the story books "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and "If You Give a Pig a Pancake." During the 2 hour event families heard the stories and had a chance to take photos with the storybook characters! They each made their very own mouse or pig puppet, ate cookies and pancakes, learned about different ways to encourage their child's reading, and learned about reading programs and tools available at the Henry County Public Library. Families also had the opportunity to learn about the next steps for enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year. Check out our photo album from Family Literacy Night with Pig and Mouse to explore the fun we had!

Family Game Night

On November 30, 2017 HCECC hosted a Family Game Night for HCECC families as well as families of the Eminence Independent School Preschool. 48 families from the county attended this fun night. During the 2 hour event families played a board game, created a FAMILY canvas, painted pet rocks, at a snack, and enjoyed a visit from the Henry County Public Library. At the end of the evening each family took home a board game to enjoy for years to come! Check out our photo album from Family Game Night.
