Dear Parents,
The Henry County Board of Education voted to amend the school calendar at its regular monthly meeting on February 18. This amended calendar will change the remaining early release days into full school days, adding five additional hours of instructional time prior to our students taking the state assessment. As you all are fully aware, inclement weather has caused the district to be closed 8 days so far this winter. With the possibility of more snow this winter and spring, the school year could be extended farther into June. These additional hours coupled with the hours over and above the state requirement could give the board the ability to amend the calendar again if needed. The Board will revisit the school calendar again at its March Board meeting to make a final decision on the last day for students.
