We just finished reading the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. In the story Stanley Lambchop is squashed flat by a falling bulletin board. One of the advantages to being flat is that his parents can put him in a large envelope and mail him for a visit to his friends in California.
We have created our own Flat Stanley to send on an adventure. Our goal is to have him travel around the world and send messages back to our school. We will plot his visits on a map. This will help to sharpen our students’ map skills.
We need your help in order for this project to be a success. Please help your child address an envelope to someone you know in another state or country. This could be a family member, a friend, or a friend of a coworker. This person will visit with Flat Stanley and then send him on to someone they know in a different state or country.
This project will continue throughout the school year. It is very educational and exciting! There are over 1,000 classes around the world participating in this project. You can visit www.flatstanley.com for more information.
Please send in your child’s stamped, addressed envelope (4” X 9.5”) by Monday, September 22, 2014. We will add Flat Stanley to the envelope along with a letter explaining the project and a letter from your child. We will mail the envelopes here at school.
Thank you for your help and cooperation! Please use the following for the return address on your envelope:
