Announcements from Mrs. Rice:

The ASVAB Career Exploration

Assessment will be offered to Henry County High School students free of charge on November 16 starting at 9:00 A.M.  The ASVAB is a series of eight short tests that will identify your skills in a variety of areas that will help the military determine which career fields you would be eligible for.  The test will take roughly three hours to finish.  Sign up in the counseling office by Friday, November 10th  if you are interested in taking the ASVAB.  Taking this test in no way commits you to military service, we use the test results as a way for students to gage their strengths and weakness in various career fields.

The importance of the FAFSA.  FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  This application is required for any student seeking federal financial aid – including grants and loans and this year, many scholarships – for all colleges and universities in the nation.  In Kentucky, grant and scholarship programs help thousands of students every year. Students who file the FAFSA before the End of October have the best chance of receiving these funds. You should file the FAFSA as soon as possible starting October 1 to apply for FREE Money!!!!!!

What to do now:

Make sure You and your  senior have the new FSA ID’s now and  your 2016 tax documents prior to the October 1st filing date Go to FAFSA.GOV and click on FSA ID at the top to create your federal student Aid ID.  Gather your information needed: an email was sent to all seniors with a list, or you can visit

I highly encourage all of you, regardless of income , to apply for financial aide with the FAFSA.  More and more schools now require all students to apply before allowing students to attend...even if you believe you make too much money. Again... this is very important, the FAFSA window opened on October 1, 2017 this year!!!

Why take the ACT?

We suggest students take the ACT early in their high school career to gauge where they are in regards to college readiness and to be able to take advantage of the dual credit our high school offers.
The ACT is used for college admission, KEES bonus money, scholarships and career readiness, just to name a few.

To sign up to take the ACT or to find out more, go to  Our high school code is 181-955 (so that they can send us your scores) or the college and career counselor can help your student sign up in her office.
