Toby Smith teaches arts and humanities, American Cinema and sociology at Henry County High School. Born in Louisville, he has been a native to Henry county since age 10 and graduated from HCHS. He attended the University of Louisville and has been awarded two bachelor degrees from U of L, one of Fine Arts with a focus in oil painting and the second of history with a focus in humanities and cultural studies. He attended Bellarmine to gain a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2008, a second Masters in Education, focused in Teacher Leadership in 2014, and is currently back at Bellarmine working to attain a PhD in Education and Social Change. He started his teaching career at HCHS and is currently in his seventh year as an educator.
On a personal note, Toby shares his Eminence home with an English Mastiff named Quimby where they both cheer on the Louisville Cardinals. He is an avid fan of the Travel Channel, particularly Anthony Bourdaine, and enjoys to travel to experience new cultures. He has traveled to Italy, Switzerland, France, Spain, Jamaica, and Mexico. He enjoys painting, drawing, and photography when time allows.
