Mark Twain once said, "The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them." As a teacher, my goal is to encourage students to read more and better books...to write and talk about them in depth...to gain and cultivate a love of reading that will carry them beyond the walls of HCHS. I hope to create lifelong readers and learners—a community of literate, knowledgeable adults. My classroom instruction rests on the following basis: improving students’ access, as well as, ability to understand a wide variety of reading materials, aiding students’ selection and evaluation of these materials, and providing time in school to read, write, and discuss.
