Dolly's Imagination Library NOW Available

DPILLogo

The first book order in 1995 totaled just over 1,700. Today, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends more than one million books per month to children around the world inspiring them to “Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More.”

“Reading to babies and young children is so important. It provides the building blocks for language and it gives them the tools for forming social and emotional skills,” said Stephanie Melton, the Principal of HCPS’ Early Childhood Center and project coordinator for the local Imagination Library. “Early reading ignites creativity, sparks curiosity, and stimulates the imagination in young children.”

Recent studies suggest participation in the Imagination Library is positively and significantly associated with higher measures of early language and math development. The Blue Ribbon Book Selection Committee takes great care in choosing books that meet the different needs of children as they progress from birth to age five.

Signing up is easy. Registration forms will be available at our local Family Resource Centers, HeadStart and Early Childhood Centers, local daycares, the Henry County Public Library, McDonald’s and other locations, or you can sign up online at imaginationlibrary.com.
