Fugate holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health with a minor in nutrition, and a Master’s in Public Health Nutrition, both from Eastern Kentucky University. She was most recently employed by Community Action Council Head Start as a Health and Nutrition Manager. She also served as the Assistant Food Service Director for Perry County Public Schools and Nutrition Council Supervisor for Breathitt County Public Schools. Fugate replaces Sidney Rothenburger, who recently retired from HCPS after 30 years in school nutrition.
Fugate hails from a small town in Eastern Kentucky, so Henry County feels like home for her.
“When I heard about the position in Henry County I thought, ‘This would be the perfect fit for me.’ Since the first time I stepped foot into the Henry County Board of Education office, everyone has been so nice and supportive,” Fugate said. “I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve Henry County in this position.”
Fugate said her goals for the HCPS food services moving forward are to find ways to improve the nutrition program, build a team that works together to provide nutritious foods to children to help improve their health and overall well-being, and to increase breakfast and lunch participation at all schools.
“Being able to work with the staff to improve the lives of children in Henry County will be so rewarding,” Fugate said.
